Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A River Landscape With Monks Conversing By A Pair Of Megaliths, With Ruins Beyond by William Hodges was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in April 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 11,250.00 (€ 13,275.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Hodges achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Matavie Bay in the Island of Otaheite (Matavai Bay, Tahiti) in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 659,250.00 (€ 764,682.72).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit A River Landscape With Monks Conversing By A Pair Of Megaliths, With Ruins Beyond von William Hodges wurde im April 2013 in der Auktion Old Master & British Paintings bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 11.250,00 (€ 13.275,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Hodges erzielen.
