Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2019 Christies in New York held the auction Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Last Supper #3, circa 1984 by William Hawkins. It changed hands for a price of USD 37,500.00 (€ 32,739.65) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 20,000.00 – 40,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Hawkins - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Puma Kitten, circa 1985, which sold at auction in January 2017 for USD 85,000.00 (€ 78,747.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Last Supper #3, circa 1984 von William Hawkins zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 37.500,00 (€ 32.739,65) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 20.000,00 – 40.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Hawkins mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Puma Kitten, circa 1985 beobachtet, die im Januar 2017 für USD 85.000,00 (€ 78.747,45) versteigert wurde.
