Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fruit and Wine by William Crosbie was sold in the 20th Century British Art auction at Christies in London in July 2012. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,572.57) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Crosbie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Universal Female, which sold at auction in May 2014 for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 21,508.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Fruit and Wine von William Crosbie wurde im Juli 2012 in der Auktion 20th Century British Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.572,57) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von William Crosbie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Universal Female beobachtet, die im Mai 2014 für GBP 17.500,00 (€ 21.508,06) versteigert wurde.
