Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2010 Phillips in New York held the auction PHOTOGRAPHS, which included the work Peggy Moffit in Rudi Gernreich's Topless Swimsuit by William Claxton. The price achieved of USD 2,500.00 (€ 1,799.34) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Claxton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Steve McQueen in his Jaguar XK55, Hollywood in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,239.24).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2010 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion PHOTOGRAPHS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Peggy Moffit in Rudi Gernreich's Topless Swimsuit von William Claxton zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.500,00 (€ 1.799,34) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Claxton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Steve McQueen in his Jaguar XK55, Hollywood im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 9.239,24).
