In May 2003 Christies in London held the auction The Irish Sale, which included the work View of Loch Lene, Lower Lake Killarney, with old Muckross House in the foreground by William Ashford. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 16,730.00 (€ 23,309.10), 67% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Ashford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A View Of The Bridge At Charleville Castle, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, A Figure On The Bridge And Other Figures With A Dog Near The Water'S Edge in December 2015 with an auction result of GBP 218,500.00 (€ 296,712.50).
