In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction THE IRISH SALE, which included the work A wooded landscape, with figures and livestock on a path and ruins beyond by William Ashford. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 20,315.00 (€ 30,479.98), 35% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Ashford have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A View Of The Bridge At Charleville Castle, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, A Figure On The Bridge And Other Figures With A Dog Near The Water'S Edge in December 2015 with an auction result of GBP 218,500.00 (€ 296,712.50).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 20.315,00 (€ 30.479,98) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Ashford auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A View Of The Bridge At Charleville Castle, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, A Figure On The Bridge And Other Figures With A Dog Near The Water'S Edge im Dezember 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 218.500,00 (€ 296.712,50).
