Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A wooded river landscape looking towards the Sugar Loaf from the Scalp, Co Wicklow, with Powerscourt in the distance by William Ashford was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 21,250.00 (€ 25,072.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Ashford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A View Of The Bridge At Charleville Castle, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, A Figure On The Bridge And Other Figures With A Dog Near The Water'S Edge in December 2015 with an auction result of GBP 218,500.00 (€ 296,712.50).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 21.250,00 (€ 25.072,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
