In June 2015 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Old Masters & 19th century Art - (including Dutch Impressionism), which included the work Meern près Utrecht: a view of De Meern near Utrecht by Willem Roelofs. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 3,750.00 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem Roelofs achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Summer (Between Hilversum And Loosdrecht) in October 2007 with an auction result of EUR 78,250.00.
