The »bidding war« ended at EUR 18,750.00 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Willem Roelofs have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Summer (Between Hilversum And Loosdrecht) in October 2007 with an auction result of EUR 78,250.00.

Die Arbeit Cows grazing near a windmill von Willem Roelofs wurde im Mai 2016 in der Auktion Old Masters & 19th Century Art - (including Dutch Impressionism) bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 18.750,00 und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Willem Roelofs auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Summer (Between Hilversum And Loosdrecht) im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 78.250,00.
