The auction ended at the price of EUR 6,000.00, which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Willem Carel Nakken - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Late summer: loading the hay-cart, which sold at auction in April 2005 for EUR 20,400.00.

Die Arbeit Donkeys in the farmyard von Willem Carel Nakken kam im September 2010 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 6.000,00 entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Willem Carel Nakken mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Late summer: loading the hay-cart beobachtet, die im April 2005 für EUR 20.400,00 versteigert wurde.
