Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2009 a collector was able to acquire the work The Zuidhavenpoort on a summer's day, Zierikzee by Willem Alexander Knip for EUR 1,000.00. This price was achieved in the auction Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures at Christies in Amsterdam and was even below the estimate range of EUR 1,200.00 – 1,600.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem Alexander Knip achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View of the Prins Hendrikkade with the St. Nicolaaskerk beyond, Amsterdam in September 2012 with an auction result of EUR 11,250.00.
