Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In September 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures, which included the work Straatje te Monnickendam: A village street in Monnickendam by Willem Alexander Knip. Here, the upper estimate of EUR 900.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 1,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Willem Alexander Knip achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View of the Prins Hendrikkade with the St. Nicolaaskerk beyond, Amsterdam in September 2012 with an auction result of EUR 11,250.00.
