Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2007 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works, which included the work Australian People In The Park by Will Ashton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 4,200.00 (€ 2,511.50) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Will Ashton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Australian kosciusko in August 2008 with an auction result of AUD 21,600.00 (€ 12,608.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2007 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian People In The Park von Will Ashton zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 4.200,00 (€ 2.511,50) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Will Ashton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Australian kosciusko im August 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 21.600,00 (€ 12.608,96).
