Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Grotta dei Cordari, Syrakus. by Wilhelm von Gloeden was auctioned at Grisebach in November 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 800.00 – 1,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wilhelm von Gloeden achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sicilian Youths, Taormina, C.1901 in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 14,400.00 (€ 21,258.92).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Grotta dei Cordari, Syrakus. von Wilhelm von Gloeden im November 2019 bei Grisebach versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 800,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 500,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wilhelm von Gloeden erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sicilian Youths, Taormina, C.1901 im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 14.400,00 (€ 21.258,92).
