This artwork by Wilhelm Amberg achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in October 2000. In the NINETEENTH CENTURY ART auction, the work Far away places sold for NLG 32,765.60 (€ 15,726.41) - well above the upper estimate of NLG 15,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Wilhelm Amberg; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Girl In A Blue Sash sold at auction in January 2010 with the realized price of USD 28,125.00 (€ 20,277.58).
