Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work Couple No.1 by Wang Keping was worth HKD 500,000.00 (€ 54,781.72) to a buyer in July 2020. This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Art Day Sale at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 120,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wang Keping - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Couple - 1999-2012, which sold at auction in July last year for EUR 157,440.00.

Die Arbeit Couple No.1 von Wang Keping war einem Käufer im Juli 2020 HKD 500.000,00 (€ 54.781,72) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Sothebys in Hong Kong erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 120.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Wang Keping mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Couple - 1999-2012 beobachtet, die im Juli letzten Jahres für EUR 157.440,00 versteigert wurde.
