Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Bird by Wang Keping was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of HKD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for HKD 50,000.00 (€ 5,630.07). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Keping achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Couple - 1999-2012 in July last year with an auction result of EUR 157,440.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Bird von Wang Keping im Oktober 2018 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für HKD 50.000,00 (€ 5.630,07) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wang Keping erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Couple - 1999-2012 im Juli letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 157.440,00.
