In December 2020 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Poem in Running-Cursive Script by Wang Duo. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 6,250,000.00 (€ 659,239.57), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Wang Duo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Poems in Cursive Script Calligraphy in May 2011 with an auction result of HKD 32,020,000.00 (€ 2,864,337.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Poem in Running-Cursive Script von Wang Duo zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 6.250.000,00 (€ 659.239,57) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wang Duo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Poems in Cursive Script Calligraphy im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 32.020.000,00 (€ 2.864.337,79).
