Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In December last year Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Calligraphy in Running Script by Wang Duo. Here, the upper estimate of HKD 5,500,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for HKD 6,300,000.00 (€ 754,963.54). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wang Duo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Poems in Cursive Script Calligraphy, which sold at auction in May 2011 for HKD 32,020,000.00 (€ 2,864,337.79).
