Sold at the upper estimate price
The work Cursive Script Calligraphy by Wang Duo was sold in the Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy Including Property from the Chokaido Museum Collection auction at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2019. The auction ended at the price of HKD 1,000,000.00 (€ 114,449.73), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of HKD 800,000.00 – 1,000,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Duo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Poems in Cursive Script Calligraphy in May 2011 with an auction result of HKD 32,020,000.00 (€ 2,864,337.79).
