Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Cursive Script After Wang Xizhi by Wang Duo was sold in the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings auction at Sothebys in Hong Kong in July 2020. The price achieved of HKD 600,000.00 (€ 65,738.07) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 500,000.00 – 800,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Duo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Poems in Cursive Script Calligraphy in May 2011 with an auction result of HKD 32,020,000.00 (€ 2,864,337.79).
