Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2019 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy Including Property from the Chokaido Museum Collection, which included the work Calligraphy In Cursive Script by Wang Duo. It changed hands for a price of HKD 4,685,000.00 (€ 536,196.97) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of HKD 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by Wang Duo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Poems in Cursive Script Calligraphy in May 2011 with an auction result of HKD 32,020,000.00 (€ 2,864,337.79).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2019 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy Including Property from the Chokaido Museum Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Calligraphy In Cursive Script von Wang Duo zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von HKD 4.685.000,00 (€ 536.196,97) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Wang Duo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Poems in Cursive Script Calligraphy im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 32.020.000,00 (€ 2.864.337,79).
