This artwork by Wang Chong achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2014. In the Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy auction, the work Poem In Cursive Script sold for USD 40,000.00 (€ 29,033.90) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wang Chong achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Calligraphy In Regular Script in April this year with an auction result of HKD 600,000.00 (€ 612,717.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 100 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Wang Chong erzielte im März 2014 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy wurde die Arbeit Poem In Cursive Script für USD 40.000,00 (€ 29.033,90) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wang Chong erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Calligraphy In Regular Script im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 600.000,00 (€ 612.717,39).
