The auction ended at the price of GBP 1,200.00 (€ 1,747.68), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Bayes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sunny Cove, Salcombe, which sold at auction in July this year for GBP 4,096.00 (€ 4,778.79).

Die Arbeit Descent To The Beach von Walter Bayes wurde im März 2005 in der Auktion 20th Century British Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.200,00 (€ 1.747,68) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter Bayes mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sunny Cove, Salcombe beobachtet, die im Juli diesen Jahres für GBP 4.096,00 (€ 4.778,79) versteigert wurde.
