In January 2008 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Palm Grove, North Africa by Walter Bayes. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 812.50 (€ 1,089.19), 35% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Walter Bayes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sunny Cove, Salcombe in July this year with an auction result of GBP 4,096.00 (€ 4,778.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2008 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Palm Grove, North Africa von Walter Bayes zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 812,50 (€ 1.089,19) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Walter Bayes auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sunny Cove, Salcombe im Juli diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.096,00 (€ 4.778,79).
