Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Large Rod Series: Circle/Rectangle 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 by Walter De Maria was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 240,000.00 (€ 203,562.34). Other works by Walter De Maria have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in November 2007 by the work Circle/Rectangle 7 (Large Rod Series) at USD 577,000.00 (€ 392,837.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Large Rod Series: Circle/Rectangle 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 von Walter De Maria im November 2005 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 240.000,00 (€ 203.562,34) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Walter De Maria wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im November 2007 die Arbeit Circle/Rectangle 7 (Large Rod Series) mit USD 577.000,00 (€ 392.837,69).
