Auction result misses estimated price range
In March 2009 a collector was able to acquire the work British Still Life Of Fruit; Still Life Of Flowers by Vincent Clare for GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,482.73). This price was achieved in the auction British and Continental Pictures & 20th Century British Art at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Vincent Clare have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Primroses, apple blossom, and a wicker basket, on a mossy bank; and Plums and grapes on a mossy bank in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 5,875.00 (€ 9,312.60).
