In December 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction Russian Paintings Day Sale, which included the work The Standard With The Mandylion Kept In The Armoury Of The Moscow Kremlin: A Preparatory Study From The Conquest Of Siberia By Yermak by Vasili Ivanovich Surikov. The result of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 16,920.53) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Vasili Ivanovich Surikov have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Study Of A Strelets' Wife For The Painting 'The Morning Of The Streltsi'S Execution' in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 106,050.00 (€ 152,552.35).
