Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction Important Russian Art, which included the work The Lookout by Vasily Polenov. The price achieved of GBP 481,250.00 (€ 599,616.33) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Vasily Polenov - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'There were also women looking from afar off', 1908 105 x 167cm (41 1/2 x 66in)., which sold at auction in March this year for GBP 1,542,300.00 (€ 1,754,664.16).

Für andere Arbeiten von Vasily Polenov mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'There were also women looking from afar off', 1908 105 x 167cm (41 1/2 x 66in). beobachtet, die im März diesen Jahres für GBP 1.542.300,00 (€ 1.754.664,16) versteigert wurde.
