This artwork by Vasily Shukhaev achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2007. In the Russian Art auction, the work Portrait of Madame Pavlova sold for GBP 916,000.00 (€ 1,359,297.93) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500,000.00. This high result makes Portrait of Madame Pavlova the most expensive artwork by Vasily Shukhaev that we have observed at auctions so far.
