Bought from the artist by Mr Gustav Christian Schwabe Esq, of 19 Kensington Park Gardens, London and Hamburg, Germany and donated in 1886 to the Hamburger Kunsthalle, from where de-accessioned on 19 January 1924 and bought by Julius Stern of Dusseldorf, where bought by the grand-father of the present owner

Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2012 a collector was able to acquire the work À Bientôt by Valentine Cameron Prinsep for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 31,148.90). This price was achieved in the auction British & Irish Art at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Valentine Cameron Prinsep have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Venetian Gaming-House In The Sixteenth Century in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 111,650.00 (€ 160,607.92).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai 2012 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit À Bientôt von Valentine Cameron Prinsep für GBP 25.000,00 (€ 31.148,90) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion British & Irish Art bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Valentine Cameron Prinsep auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Venetian Gaming-House In The Sixteenth Century im November 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 111.650,00 (€ 160.607,92).
