Upper estimate price exceeded by 46 %.
The work An Indian water carrier by Valentine Cameron Prinsep was sold in the 19th Century and British Impressionist Art auction at Bonhams in March this year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,200.00 (€ 11,604.47), 46% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Valentine Cameron Prinsep achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Venetian Gaming-House In The Sixteenth Century in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 111,650.00 (€ 160,607.92).
