The work View Of The Lal Darwaza On The Matwa Road, Between The Purana Qila And Old City, Delhi by Valentine Cameron Prinsep was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 875.00 (€ 1,034.24) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Valentine Cameron Prinsep achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Venetian Gaming-House In The Sixteenth Century in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 111,650.00 (€ 160,607.92).
