Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Uzo Egonu achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in October 2018. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction, the work Nigerian stateless People (An Assembley) sold for GBP 43,750.00 (€ 49,336.50) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Uzo Egonu; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Nigerian Woman Reading sold at auction in April 2019 with the realized price of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 50,893.89).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Uzo Egonu erzielte im Oktober 2018 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art wurde die Arbeit Nigerian stateless People (An Assembley) für GBP 43.750,00 (€ 49.336,50) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 18.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Uzo Egonu; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Nigerian Woman Reading im April 2019 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 43.750,00 (€ 50.893,89).
