In May this year Bonhams in London held the auction From Harunobu to Hasui | Japanese Prints across the centuries, which included the work Unknown by Utagawa Kunisada. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,560.00 (€ 2,978.58), 71% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Kunisada achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Edo period (1615-1868), 1857 in March last year with an auction result of USD 47,812.50 (€ 43,101.51).
