Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by Tyeb Mehta was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,110,000.00 (€ 947,260.62) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tyeb Mehta - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Durga Mahisasura Mardini, which sold at auction in November 2018 for INR 204,875,000.00 (€ 2,587,399.54).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Tyeb Mehta kam im September 2020 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000.000,00 – 1.500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.110.000,00 (€ 947.260,62) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Tyeb Mehta mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Durga Mahisasura Mardini beobachtet, die im November 2018 für INR 204.875.000,00 (€ 2.587.399,54) versteigert wurde.
