Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Falling Figure) by Tyeb Mehta was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,200,000.00 – 1,800,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 848,750.00 (€ 959,232.14). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tyeb Mehta - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Durga Mahisasura Mardini, which sold at auction in November 2018 for INR 204,875,000.00 (€ 2,587,399.54).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Falling Figure) von Tyeb Mehta im Juni 2018 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.200.000,00 – 1.800.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 848.750,00 (€ 959.232,14) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Tyeb Mehta mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Durga Mahisasura Mardini beobachtet, die im November 2018 für INR 204.875.000,00 (€ 2.587.399,54) versteigert wurde.
