Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2017 a collector was able to acquire the work Gesture by Tyeb Mehta for GBP 896,750.00 (€ 1,022,470.53). This price was achieved in the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 900,000.00 – 1,500,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tyeb Mehta - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Durga Mahisasura Mardini, which sold at auction in November 2018 for INR 204,875,000.00 (€ 2,587,399.54).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Oktober 2017 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Gesture von Tyeb Mehta für GBP 896.750,00 (€ 1.022.470,53) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 900.000,00 – 1.500.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Tyeb Mehta mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Durga Mahisasura Mardini beobachtet, die im November 2018 für INR 204.875.000,00 (€ 2.587.399,54) versteigert wurde.
