Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Toyen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Paris in March last year. In the Surrealism and Its Legacy auction, the work Chambre secrète sans serrure sold for EUR 1,487,000.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 600,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Toyen; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Tu t'évapores dans un buisson de cris sold at auction in October this year with the realized price of EUR 2,823,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Toyen erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in Paris einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Surrealism and Its Legacy wurde die Arbeit Chambre secrète sans serrure für EUR 1.487.000,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 600.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Toyen; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Tu t'évapores dans un buisson de cris im Oktober diesen Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 2.823.000,00.
