Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work First Bikini (Dovima, Montego Bay, Jamaica), from Harper's Bazaar, c. 1946 by Toni Frissell was auctioned at Christies in New York in February 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,440.00 (€ 1,088.44). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Toni Frissell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Weeki Wachee Spring, Florida, 1947 in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 15,900.55).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit First Bikini (Dovima, Montego Bay, Jamaica), from Harper's Bazaar, c. 1946 von Toni Frissell im Februar 2007 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.440,00 (€ 1.088,44) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Toni Frissell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Weeki Wachee Spring, Florida, 1947 im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 15.900,55).
