Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Babe Paley (Mrs. Mortimer), Charleston, S.C., c. 1940 by Toni Frissell was sold in the Photographs From The Estate of Thomas T. Solley auction at Christies in New York in February 2007. The price achieved of USD 1,320.00 (€ 997.73) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Toni Frissell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Weeki Wachee Spring, Florida, 1947 in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 15,900.55).
