Auction result misses estimated price range
In July this year a collector was able to acquire the work Jackie Bouvier Kennedy and John F. Kennedy Cutting the Cake at their Wedding, Newport, Rhode Island by Toni Frissell for USD 640.00 (€ 580.76). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs Now The Collector's Edition at Bonhams in London and was even below the estimate range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Toni Frissell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Weeki Wachee Spring, Florida, 1947 in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 15,900.55).
