This price was achieved in the auction Takahashi Kouhou Collection at China Guardian and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 10,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Tong Danian; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Calligraphy Couplet In Jinwen sold at auction in October 2013 with the realized price of HKD 47,500.00 (€ 4,507.50).
