A top price for Tomioka Tessai - as previously expected
The work Meito zuroku (Catalogue of important ceramics) by Tomioka Tessai was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2001. The price achieved of USD 12,925.00 (€ 15,286.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Meito zuroku (Catalogue of important ceramics) is the most expensive artwork by Tomioka Tessai that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Meito zuroku (Catalogue of important ceramics) von Tomioka Tessai kam im Mai 2001 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 12.925,00 (€ 15.286,81) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Meito zuroku (Catalogue of important ceramics) das teuerste Kunstwerk von Tomioka Tessai, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
