This artwork by Tomioka Tessai achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2003. In the JAPANESE ART AND DESIGN INCLUDING LACQUER AND WORKS OF ART auction, the work Shiki no hana Flowers of the Four Seasons, Meiji 40 1907 sold for GBP 3,585.00 (€ 5,146.32) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tomioka Tessai - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Meito zuroku (Catalogue of important ceramics), which sold at auction in May 2001 for USD 12,925.00 (€ 15,286.81).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Tomioka Tessai erzielte im November 2003 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion JAPANESE ART AND DESIGN INCLUDING LACQUER AND WORKS OF ART wurde die Arbeit Shiki no hana Flowers of the Four Seasons, Meiji 40 1907 für GBP 3.585,00 (€ 5.146,32) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Tomioka Tessai mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Meito zuroku (Catalogue of important ceramics) beobachtet, die im Mai 2001 für USD 12.925,00 (€ 15.286,81) versteigert wurde.
