Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2019 Sothebys in Mumbai held the auction Boundless: India, which included this untitled work by Thota Vaikuntam. The price achieved of INR 625,000.00 (€ 7,884.11) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as INR 500,000.00 – 700,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thota Vaikuntam - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Women), which sold at auction in May last year for GBP 20,400.00 (€ 23,998.66).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2019 führte Sothebys in Mumbai die Auktion Boundless: India durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Thota Vaikuntam zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von INR 625.000,00 (€ 7.884,11) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit INR 500.000,00 – 700.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Thota Vaikuntam mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Women) beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für GBP 20.400,00 (€ 23.998,66) versteigert wurde.
