Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Important Old Master PaintingsPart II, which included the work An alchemist in his study by Thomas Wijck. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 42,000.00 (€ 32,186.37) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by Thomas Wijck have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2018 the work A Mediterranean Harbour Scene With Oriental Merchants was auctioned for GBP 43,750.00 (€ 49,053.37).

Im Januar 2005 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important Old Master PaintingsPart II durch, in der auch die Arbeit An alchemist in his study von Thomas Wijck zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 42.000,00 (€ 32.186,37) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Andere Arbeiten von Thomas Wijck konnten bereits höhere Auktionspreise erzielen, so wurde im Juli 2018 die Arbeit A Mediterranean Harbour Scene With Oriental Merchants für GBP 43.750,00 (€ 49.053,37) versteigert.
