Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Troop Of Cavalrymen And Other Figures Outside An Inn, A Hill Fort Beyond by Thomas Wijck was auctioned at Sothebys in London in April 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 17,640.00 (€ 20,291.13). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Wijck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Mediterranean Harbour Scene With Oriental Merchants, which sold at auction in July 2018 for GBP 43,750.00 (€ 49,053.37).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Troop Of Cavalrymen And Other Figures Outside An Inn, A Hill Fort Beyond von Thomas Wijck im April 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 17.640,00 (€ 20.291,13) den Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Wijck mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Mediterranean Harbour Scene With Oriental Merchants beobachtet, die im Juli 2018 für GBP 43.750,00 (€ 49.053,37) versteigert wurde.
