Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Collector, Dealer, Connoisseur: The Vision of Richard L. Feigen, which included the work Landscape with trees and a field, a church tower in the distance by Thomas Gainsborough. The »bidding war« ended at USD 47,880.00 (€ 41,447.37), 20% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Gainsborough achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Going To Market, Early Morning in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 7,961,000.00 (€ 8,740,648.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Collector, Dealer, Connoisseur: The Vision of Richard L. Feigen durch, in der auch die Arbeit Landscape with trees and a field, a church tower in the distance von Thomas Gainsborough zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 47.880,00 (€ 41.447,37) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Gainsborough erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Going To Market, Early Morning im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.961.000,00 (€ 8.740.648,70).
