Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Landscape with a peasant family resting by Thomas Gainsborough was auctioned at Christies in New York in January this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,080.00 (€ 9,283.48) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Gainsborough achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Going To Market, Early Morning in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 7,961,000.00 (€ 8,740,648.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Landscape with a peasant family resting von Thomas Gainsborough kam im Januar diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 10.080,00 (€ 9.283,48) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Gainsborough erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Going To Market, Early Morning im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.961.000,00 (€ 8.740.648,70).
